"The manual needs to be simpler and clearer" - interview with Hulda G. Geirsdóttir

Hulda G. Geirsdóttir, Bent Rune Skulevold and Þorgeir Guðlaugsson all received undisputed vote in the election for new representatives in the FEIF sports board of judges which was held recently......

Eiðfaxi made a call to Hulda because of the new responsibility and asked her about tasks and roles of the board.

“The representatives who were voted will have a seat in the committee for two years at a time and the role of the board is to check over issues concerning sports assessments, discuss regulations, education and all the different matters concerning the sports competition directly and indirectly. It will also deal with the interests of the judges, facilities and accommodation of judges so that their work can proceed as well as possible,” Hulda says.

She feels that one of the larger tasks which will have the attention of the board in the near future is to improve the instructional manual, instruction which is a guide for the judges when at work. “At this time there is a great revision being done and then we need to have some suggestions on how this could be improved. I think the guide, as it is today is too evasive and complicated. The guide needs to be simplified and to be made clearer so that it is more user friendly. Also we are starting to investigate how it is possible to improve the judges education and to increase collaboration on an international level, so that judges will travel between countries to work as judges on a regular basis, “ Hulda adds that there is a great professional ambition within the committee.

At an interview which was posted hér á Eiðfaxa with Gunnar Sturluson, the new FEIF member, where he describes the importance for Iceland to take the lead in international matters concerning horse riding. And Hulda agrees with this. “I have worked as a judge abroad on a regular basis and am very interested in these matters. I offered to participate in this because I think that it is of great importance that Icelanders are active in this collaboration and that we have our own representative in this field“ she said.
