All the best we can offer is on the "Orri for 25 years" grand show

On March 26th next there will be a grand show called “Orri for 25 years” and will be held in the Ölfus arena. The show wil cover the history and affect that Orri frá Þúfu has had on horse breeding in Iceland. Clearly the affect Orri has had is great and about half of all the horses that have come out of Orri have received first prize.

Last week during the good weather Eiðfaxi was traveling and met with Gunnar Arnarsson, he is the showman of the “Orri for 25 years” show along with Guðmundur Björgvinsson.  Gunnar was out riding the son of Orri the fabulous horse Gári frá Auðsholtshjáleigu. This was a great opportunity to ask him a little about the show:

“Orri will be 25 years old this spring and therefore it will be enjoyable to host a show while he is in full action and his offspring is all over the place”, he says when asked about the reason for hosting the show.
Gunnar said that the spectators can expect a great variety of horses out of Orri at the show. “We will show the best we can offer. There is a great spirit amongst the owners of horses and the riders, almost all of the best riders in this country will come with their horses which are in great shape.”
Guests of honor at the show will be Indriði Ólafsson at Þúfa and Sveinn Guðmundsson from Sauðárkrókur. Gunnar is expecting that about 60-80 horses will be at the show. “The offspring of most of the honor prize winners and the first prize horses will participate. The offspring from the daughters of Orri play a big role and there will be many horses which are directly out of him.”

He mentions by name a few horses who will be presented, such as: Ormur frá Dallandi, Jarl frá Miðkrika, Álfur frá Selfossi, Þóra frá Prestbæ and Alfu frá Blesastöðum and therefore it is clear that the grand show is an event that all horse loving persons should attend.
When asked news about Orri, Gunnar says that he is in full action. “He got about 53 mares pregnant out of 60, last summer. Of course he will be at the show.”

Pre sales on tickets to the “Orri for 25 years will start at the end of this month and there are about 800-900 tickets available.
