VÍS Masters League started powerfully this week. The speed agility or shepherding as the event is often called was the first tournament in the league this winter. There were many spectators present and the benches of the Ölfus arena were crowded.
After the first round tonight, Valdirmar Bergstað was the one who had the highest score. But shepherding is a fun event, and when time is of the essence anything can happen.
It was especially enjoyable to see the girls in the Auðsholtshjáleiga team. Their manner horsemanship was beautiful and they managed some tracks without bumping into a single cone and their mares showed great softness and agility. Although the speed in their presentation was lacking, still one of them managed to make it into the finals and ended in 7th place, this was Artemisia Bertus.
When it came to the end of the competition, Árni Björn and Korka frá Stennesi had the best timing, therefore becoming the undisputed winners in the first event this winter in the VÍS Masters League. In second place ws Sigurður Sigurðarson and Reykur frá Minni-Borg and thir was Ragnar Tómasson riding Hekla frá Selfossi.
Both Árni Björn and Ragnar are Lífland team members, so it can be said that the team did a great job tonight, because the third team member, Sigurbjörn Bárðarson was in 10th place.
