“We are mainly aiming for the gæðinga competition in both A and B-class” says Friðdóra Friðriksdóttir in Hlíðarþúfur, Hafnarfjörður. Together with her husband Sindri Sigurðsson, they have many amazing gæðingar in their stable. “Húmvar frá Hamrahóli and Spölur frá Hafsteinsstöðum will most likely go to B-class and then there are Vikar frá Torfastöðum, Sturla frá Hafsteinsstöðum and Hrannar frá Þorlákshöfn who will go to A-class. Our A-class section is strong this year and the tension grows with every passing day”.
Also, a few of their horses will go to be breeding assessed this spring. In this context a few promising horses should be mentioned, such as Parkerson frá Vatnsleysu and mares with great potential out of Hágangur frá Narfastöðum and Óttar frá Hvítárholti. “There are other amazing horses here in our stable which we have not made a final decision on but this will become clear during the next few weeks, and of course Landsmót is quickly approaching”.
Along with training horses, Friðdóra and Sindri have been tending to riding instructions for young adults and youngsters, many of who aim for Landsmót this summer. “Riding instruction is very extensive during the year when Landsmót is held and the young riders are aiming high just as the older ones are. The coming weeks is a very busy time where riders work hard to be able to do their best in all aspects of competition” Friðdóra says finally.
