A great chief is deceased. Many remember Höfði frá Húsavík, who was a powerful five gaited horse. In 1993 Sigurbjörn Bárðarson became a world champion in five gaits and gæðinga pace riding Höfði . They also became the fourth best in 250 m pace and thereby the highest scoring competitor.
Höfði was born to Gísli Haraldsson in Húsavík the year 1982. He was out of the son of Náttfari, Börkur frá Sandhólum (7.88) and the daughter of Hrafn, Vaka frá Brennigerði (8.21).
The last years of his life, Höfði spent in good favor in the care of Birgit Becker, Þýskalandi. "I will forever be thankful to Sigurbjörn and his wife Fríða for having left Höfði with me after the world championship in Holland. No only was Höfði a great horse but he was also a magnificent friend of mine,” says Birgit.
